Studio Project 1.2
For this project, we were tasked to create a collection under a brand we chose. I chose a Japanese brand, Atelier Pierrot. Atelier Pierrot carries Lolita pieces, a popular subculture in Japan. I wanted to contrast the frills and lace of the brand by incorporating elements of punk rock. Thus, I created Roughlace.

I designed and constructed a Lolita bonnet, that was transformable and could be worn in different ways. I utilized unconventional materials for the patchwork, such as black, shrunken plastic sheets. I embellished the bonnet with lace and chains, and detachable velvet bows. The design blends the softness of a traditional lolita bonnet, with elements of punk rock like patchwork, chain and denim.

Research
Some of the research conducted include brand and competitor analysis.

Roughlace is a collection that aims to bridge the gap between the sweet, girlish elements of lolita, bringing a refreshing new twist to it.

Roughlace brings with it a spunk, combing frills and lace with studs and patches. The rugged and the cute combine to create a fresh new take on lolita fashion.
