Y.W.B.I.T Trash to Couture
A fashion design contest hosted by Lendlease, aiming to support Singapore’s Zero Waste ambitions. I placed as a Semi-Finalist.
“A dress made of recycled materials does not have to be caged by its limitations of unconventional fabric. I wholeheartedly believe in this statement, and ironically, caged the dress in a hoopskirt made of recycled cardboard. I don’t believe that the dress needs to hide its true nature of being created with recycled materials, instead, I want to embrace all the unique and distinctive materials, and the raw textures that they have to offer.” -From my entry write-up
I participated in this competition awhile before my enrolment into polytechnic. I barely had any sewing or design experience, but I wanted to give it a shot.
