Studio Project 2

In this module, we were tasked to merge two designers into one design identity, to form a cohesive collection. A fashion brand had to be paired with a non-fashion brand. The fashion brand we chose is Enfants Riches Déprimés. And as for non-fashion, furniture designer William Guillon. 

Dead Men Walking

I constructed and designed these garments from scratch. All the pieces were drafted by me, and I utilized techniques like quilting for the chest piece.

The chest plate was created using metallic fabric, interfacing, and batting material. Smaller details like the shoulder epaulette had hand-sewn trims.

“Dead Men Walking” is a collection that reaches past the glory and honor of serving in a war. World leaders send young, promising men and women to the frontlines, only to return with no glory, no honour, but broken minds and souls if they ever do return at all. Sons and children are sent back unceremoniously in a bag, identities, lives ripped from them by those in power. More often than not, somebody's son would end up as a "John Doe", unidentifiable, just another statistic. Just another number. Senseless violence is a core aspect of the collection, as well as themes of entrapment, power, and false promises.

This ERD x William Guillon collaboration brings out the inherent socio-political nature of their brands. From furniture to hardware, Guillon’s work will shine in the metallics of the collection.
