Creative Techniques in Textiles
In this module, we utilized textile manipulation techniques to create a series of textile samples. My fascination has guided me to explore the human anatomy through threads and fibers. In this textile exploration, I do my best to replicate the life that flows through our body.
Moodboard

For my theme, I chose to explore nature and ecosystems. Specifically, the construction of the human body.
Initial explorations
These are basically my first tries at recreating flesh and blood using fabrics and other materials. I used techniques like tie-dye, quilting, beading and slashing. I also worked with unconventional materials such as pvc strings, and water-soluble fabric.

Final four swatches and write-up
After feedback on the previous ones, I started working on my final four. I decided to explore techniques like shrinking plastic, and keep some like slashing, quilting, tie-dye and beading. I also tried using materials like hot glue and acrylic paints.

Headpiece
We also had to craft a headpiece that aligned with our swatches. I chose to create an organic structure using wire, before going over with hot glue. I then wrapped each branch with red yarn, stringing beads to look like it was dripping. the headpiece extends to the sides of the face, which are created using hot glue.
